Nest Planning 2021

ZERO零艺术中心长期关注女性艺术，并持续推出女性艺术展览，探索当代女性艺术的创作方法、语言转向等学术问题。随着10年持续性、系统性地推介活动，女性艺术展逐步形成了一套完整的、独特的、开放的双年展体系。

这一体系最早关注女性雕塑艺术，2017年以后转向更广泛的领域。自“倾巢计划2017”启动以来，该双年展项目主要聚焦女性装置艺术，以探索女性艺术在不同领域、媒介之间的交互、跨界、实验为目的，试图发掘女性艺术的新生力量，寻求重建新秩序的可能。

“倾巢计划”2017、2019，以女性艺术的代际差异及关联为切入点，探讨女性装置艺术的新观念、新方法。“倾巢计划”2021恰逢女性艺术双年展项目第十年，这是一个合适的节点，既对以往女性装置艺术进行延续性推进，同时开启新的探索方向——特别聚焦于还在成长中的、年轻一代的创作状态，她们日常的、自我的、模糊的女性意识相比前辈艺术家更加明显。

本届展览特邀十四位青年艺术家参展，艺术家的年龄跨度从1980年代至2000年代出生，她们具备全然不同的成长经历、思想、态度，语境的多元化、形态的多样化为本届展览增添了许多未知、陌生、鲜活的气息。作品形式以装置、影像、综合材料为主，在材料选择、主题偏向、展示方式等方面体现出全然一新的面貌。她们把目光从性别身份滑向更开阔、更细微、更具体的诸多范畴，是为了实现真正的个体的自由。这也是本届展览想说的——个体的诞生是献给女性最大的礼物。

Foreword

With sustainedattention on feminine art, Zero Art Center has been constantly holding feminineart exhibitions, exploring academic issues including creation method andlinguistic turn of modern feminine art. In the past decade, as the promotionactivities unfolded in a continuous and systematic manner, the feminine artexhibition is gradually becoming a complete, unique and open system of biennialexhibition.

The earlyfocus of this system was originally the feminine sculpture art, but began toextend more widely from 2017 onwards. Since the start of “Nest Planning 2017”,this biennial exhibition program has been mainly concentrating about thefeminine installation art in an attempt to explore the interaction, crossoverand experimentation of feminine art among diverse fields and media, exploringthe emerging power of feminine art and seeking the possibility ofreconstructing the new order.

The “NestPlanning” Exhibitions in 2017 and 2019 focused on the generation gap andrelevance in feminine art, discussing the new concepts and methods of feminineinstallation art. “Nest Planning 2021”, however, coincides with the tenthanniversary of biennial exhibition project of feminine art. This is anappropriate time to carry forward the feminine installation art and start thenew direction of exploration-the special attention to the state of creationamong the young generation still at the stage of growth, since their daily,egotistical and vague female consciousness appears to be more obvious than theart predecessors.

This editionhas specially invited 14 young artists who were born in 1980s or even 2000s toparticipate in the exhibition. They have completely different life experience,ideology, and attitude. The contextual diversification and formal variety adds tothe exhibition the unknown, unfamiliar and fresh atmosphere. The works aremainly in the form of installations, images, and composite materials and offerbrand new looks in the choice of material, theme and representation, etc. Theydivert their attention from the sexual identity to more expansive, subtle, andspecific categories for achieving the real individual freedom, which coincideswith the theme of this edition-the birth of individual is the best gift everdedicated to the female.

In the end, Iwould like to extend my gratitude to Zero Art Center for its constantlyenormous support and unselfish dedication to the feminine art in the pastdecade.
